Ryan Howard smacked 2 homeruns at Angels Stadium as the Philadelphia Phantoms
beat the Tampa Bay Storm by the count of 6 to 0.
Howard was spectacular at the plate. The hometown fans showed their
appreciation with a standing ovation his last time at bat. He brought the
hometown folks to their feet with a Grand Slammer in the 1st inning, banged
out a single in the 4th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run
(his 6th of the season) in the 6th inning. Philadelphia out-hit Tampa Bay
for the game, 9 hits to 4.
Chris Sampson(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 5 innings. Mike
Hampton(0-1) ended up with the loss. 'It's just about getting in a good
hitting position and just going out there and being prepared,' Howard said.
'You try to hit in your own capacity and not do too much. I just try to have
a good approach, day after day, game by game, and pitch by pitch.'
