One run was the difference at Progressive Field as the Gaspee Fire defeated
the Riverton Wolverines 4 to 3.
Jeff Suppan(2-5) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 6 hits and 2 walks
in 6 and 1/3 innings. Riverton threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.
Kevin Gregg got the save, his 5th. Dana Eveland(1-2) was charged with the
loss. He gave up 4 runs and 8 hits in 7 innings. 'Fundamentals,
fundamentals, fundamentals' said Thomas Fischer after the game. 'We lost
this game today because we didn't follow the instructions every Little
Leaguer hears every day.'
