Gary Matthews Jr had 4 hits and 3 RBI at SAFECO Field as the Riverton
Wolverines beat the North Shore Lobsters by the count of 11 to 4.
 
Matthews Jr was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he
provided much of the offense for the visitors.  He hit a single in the 2nd
inning, lined a one-base hit in the 4th inning, rifled a three-run blast (his
2nd of the season) in the 7th inning and delivered a base-hit in the 9th
inning.  Riverton out-hit North Shore for the game, 18 hits to 8.  
 
Andy Sonnanstine(2-6) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 4 runs for the win. The
losing pitcher was Jon Lester(4-3).  He was knocked around by Riverton,
allowing 11 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.  
 
The win by Riverton was very good news as they had been 2-8 of late.  Now
their seasonal record improves to 12-45.  With this loss, North Shore has a
5-5 record of late, 21-21 overall.
