First baseman Mike Jacobs ripped 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Riverton
Wolverines outscored the Westland Comets 14 to 6.
Jacobs was a one-man wrecking crew. He laced a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, laced a base-hit which was good for two runs in the 3rd inning,
clubbed a three-run home run in the 4th inning and ripped a solo home run
(his 11th of the season) in the 6th inning. For the game Riverton out-hit
Westland 18 to 10.
Jorge De La Rosa(1-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 and 2/3 innings
and allowing 5 runs. Chad Billingsley(5-6) ended up with the loss. He
allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 4 and 1/3 innings.
'They made a couple of mistakes and I took full advantage,' Jacobs said 'next
time I'm sure they'll pitch me tougher.'
